Last year, CommonWealth Data Solutions (CWDS) partnered with The Haven to examine historical data from The Haven’s annual appeal for donations, a critical funding source for their mission. The goal was to use this historical data to help visualize trends, profile donor segments, and build a forecast of likely donations to use as strategic inputs to support the design of the 2023 year-end fundraising effort.
At the completion of the 2023 donation appeal, The Haven's donations increased by more than 12% year-over-year, with actual results remarkably close—within 1.5%—to the forecast provided by Russ Clay at CWDS. Clearly, many factors contribute to fundraising success – but the analysis and discussion that we had throughout the project played an important role in helping prepare for what ultimately became a successful donation cycle.
